The Slammers first met Ray Davies was in Muddy Maher's bar in Kinsale Ireland 2007 during The Kinsale Jazz Festival, he approached members of the band after the show to find out more about the Band and a business card was given to Ray, it was an unreal evening to have such a legend out one of our gigs.

Four months went past The Slammers continued performing their shows, then one foggy day in London Town (True). I received a phone call from Ray Davies' secretary Linda, it took about an hour to convince me that it was'nt a wind up, Linda explained to me that Ray wanted to work with us on a show in Stratford about the 1950s in London, well it never happened for one reason or another.

Four years later when again I recieved an email saying that Ray was curator for the 2011 Meltdown festival at the Royal Festival Hall, and he has asked us to perform on the opening night. The band were so excited to think that we'd be playing at such a brilliant venue as guest of Ray Davies, well dont get much better than that!
