The Band Members. 

The line-up brings new ideas and energy to a wealth of experience; individual band members can lay claim to a wide range of previous performance, from busking the High Street and local Blues Clubs to appearances at the Royal Festival Hall, the London Palladium, Ronnie Scott’s, Hemsby, the Rhythm Riot, and many European Festivals, playing and touring alongside names such as the Comets, Linda Gail Lewis, and Wee Willie Harris. 

 

James

James Gray - Lead Vocal, Baritone Sax and Harmonica. 

James is a big Louis Prima Fan with a background in Jazz and a long-standing obsession with giant saxophones! A mesmerising, inventive musician, bubbling with ideas and enthusiasm, he says that the band has given him “a chance to perform the music I love with people who share the same passion as me.” 
Neale

Neale Hobday - Double Bass and Backing Vocals.

A founder member of the Alabama Slammers, Neale is well known for his charismatic stage presence and energy. A committed, dedicated and passionate Manager, he says of the Band; “I have finally found the sound, the style, the people and the music I’ve been looking for. It’s the whole package….this is our Band! We love it and we hope you will too”
Claire

Claire Hamlin - Piano.

Claire began her playing career in a touring Elvis Tribute show before joining the newly-formed Alabama Slammers. An innovative piano player and dedicated band member, well known for giving every performance her all, she says; “To be a part of this is amazing…. this band makes every gig a special occasion” 

Gary

Gary Richardson - Drums.

Son of renowned Jazz drummer Johnny Richardson (Acker Bilk, Terry Lightfoot, Stephane Grapelli), Gary has toured extensively with the Stargazers and the Jivecats. His dynamic drumming is inspired by the “Swings like Crazy” Louis Prima sound, and powers a crazy rhythm section that swings like King Prima! 
Andy

Andy Burns - Tenor Sax and Backing Vocals.

Andy instantly blows new life into classic sax solos, his wide mix of influences and experience conspire to create a storming sax sound, full of drive, energy and excitement. 
Bob

Bob Lane - Guitar and Backing Vocals.

A master guitarist, the Welshman with the big voice brings a huge sense of fun to any occasion. A melting pot of jazz, rock'n'roll, swing and rockabilly, his exuberant solos always excite and exhilarate.  

So, add it all together, shake, and stir up a Slammer Cocktail of Big Beat Jumpin’ Swingin’ Rhythm’n’Boogie-Blues...it’s alive, it’s wild, it’s swinging, it’s so much more than the sum of the parts…. This is Maximum Jive at it’s Best!
